Denguin

Denguin is a commune of the Pyrénées -Atlantiques in the Aquitaine region. Administratively, it is assigned to the Canton of Lescar and the district of Pau.

Geography

The village with 1761 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) located at the foot of the Pyrenees, 15 km west of Pau, on the right ( north-east ) bank of the river Gave de Pau. Denguin counts for agglomeration Pau and is crossed by the Autoroute A64, which corresponds to the E80 and runs from Bayonne to Pau.

The municipal area also includes the two settlements Vignoles and Mounou - Bergé.

History

Denguin under stood in the middle ages the Bailiwick of Pau and there was locally a dependent of the vice- county of Béarn lay monastery. Such called monasteries, Abbaye laïque, were at that time very typical of the French Pyrenees region. The archivist Paul Raymond calculated in the 19th century that it was in Denguin 1385 probably 46 taxable households ( Feux fiscaux ).

1654, a barony formed out which included the places Denguin, Vignoles and Aussevielle and was under the vice county of Béarn.
