Denise René

Denise René ( actually: Denise Bleibtreu, born June 1913 in Paris; † 9 July 2012) was a French art dealer.

Life

The parents of Denise René came from Hungary. On July 13, 1944, she opened her gallery on the 3rd floor in the Rue de la Boétie in Paris for a short time to start in November of the same year with the first exhibition of works of Victor Vasarely. Their claim to great artist was - guessed in oblivion - of earlier times who had dealt with the abstract art and their precursors, to bring in a "dialogue of generations " with young avant-garde artists.

In the first five years, she curated exhibitions with time already established artists such as Max Ernst, Piet Mondrian, Alexander Calder, Marcel Duchamp and Hans Arp.
