Dennis Alcapone
Dennis Alcapone ( born August 6 1947 Clarendon Parish, Jamaica as Dennis Smith) is a Jamaican musician and, together with U-Roy of the pioneers of dancehall.
Life
He grew up in Kingston made Alcapone soon with Winston Cameron in El Paso sound system attracted attention and was there to the local variables. At the time of El Paso's emergence (1968) and the following years, Dennis Alcapone for a variety of producers on, including the likes of Coxsone Dodd, Duke Reid and Keith Hudson, who cared for his first hit in the RJR charts in Jamaica: Spanish Omega. Other well-known pieces are Guns Do not Argue, It Must Come, Nanny version or Wake Up Jamaica. All of these tunes were very successful, but never linked up with the number-one success Teach the Children.
In subsequent years, Alcapone worked for various producers and produced a hundred singles.
