The thickness and the Belgians is a Sat.1 comedy show of 1998 with the Flemish actor Carry Goossens than the Belgians and Diether Krebs than the thickness. In twelve episodes, both presented as a comedy duo in various skits, where Frank Strecker directed. The series was inspired by the Belgian comedy series Gaston and Leo, from a large part of the skits was adopted in revised form.

This was the first German production of Carry Goossens, who was invited by a native of Belgium producer and cameraman Roland Willaert to the casting, although Goossens had not mastered the German language at the time.

The two main characters played in about 24 skits per episode the different characters in various everyday situations. Among other things, they played full drunken policemen, gangsters, tourists and many more. In addition, ran through all the consequences sketches of the Crusaders and No free beer for Schroeder. In addition to the twelve regular episodes there were two specials, the first had no special title. The second was for the first time just before the turn of the year 1998-1999 under the name The Fat and the Belgians celebrate New Year's shown on TV.

On 12 April 2007 the only season of the series in a DVD box set was released.
