Der Kuhhandel

The horse-trading is an operetta by Kurt Weill. The text is by Robert Vambery.

The work was in its original German version, which originated in the first half of 1934, during his lifetime Weill's not quite finished and also not listed. In contrast, experienced a revised, English version under the title A Kingdom For A Cow premiered as a three-act Musical Play in London in 1935, but A Kingdom For A Cow was a flop. Weill then worked at the horse-trading is no longer on, but used parts of it for other works.

Around 1970 Robert Vambery revised libretto to the original German version. Headed by Lys Symonette, Weill's former accompanist, then a playable version of the fragment remained operetta was produced which was published in 1978 by the Schott publishing house.

The horse trading is considered to be cheeky, sharp and satirical as A Kingdom For A Cow. At the Bregenz Festival, 2004 The horse-trading, lyrically re-edited by Reinhard Palm, listed in a production by David Pountney.

The revised version of Lys Symonette and Robert Vambery was premiered on 18 June 1994 in Bautzen in the presence of Symonette and Vambery.
