Derbe

Derbe (Greek Δέρβη ) was an ancient and early Byzantine city in the south of Asia Minor landscape Lycaonia near the border of Cappadocia. She lay in the present-day village Devrişehri north of the town of Karaman in Turkey.

Derbe is mentioned in Marcus Tullius Cicero and Strabo. The Apostle Paul visited Derbe on his missionary journeys, where he founded a Christian community. Ever since 381, the city was diocese, on the titular Derbe of the Roman Catholic Church is declining. Well in the 8/9 Century was abandoned due to Derbe Arab invasions.
