Derek Brownlee

Derek Brownlee ( born August 10, 1974) is a Scottish politician and member of the Conservative Party.

Life

Brownlee grew up in the Scottish Borders in Selkirk. He attended the Knowepark Primary School and Selkirk High School. Then Brownlee studied law at the University of Aberdeen and then worked for various commercial enterprises.

Political career

In the parliamentary elections of 2003, Brownlee applied for the direct mandate of the constituency Tweeddale, Ettrick and Lauderdale. He received the four largest vote share and thus failed to reach the Scottish Parliament. In addition, Brownlee was set in these elections on the fifth rank of the regional election list for the election of the Conservative Region South of Scotland. Since the Conservative Party in the constituency with a direct mandate and three list seats won, he received almost no mandate through this channel.
