David Mundell

David Mundell PC ( born May 27, 1962 in Dumfries ) is a Scottish politician and member of the Conservative Party.

Life

Mundell attended Lockerbie Academy and then studied law at the University of Edinburgh. After he had erworden a business degree from the University of Strathclyde, he worked as a solicitor and then worked in the legal department of the BT Group.

Scottish Parliament

During his studies Mundell was a member of the District Council of Annandale and Eskdale and later the Regional Council of Dumfries and Galloway for two years. In the first Scottish Parliament elections in 1999 Mundell candidate in the constituency of Dumfries, but could not prevail against the Labour candidate Elaine Murray himself. Since Mundell, however, was also placed on the Regional Evaluation of the Conservatives for the election Region South of Scotland on the, he received as a result of the election results a list of the four mandates of the conservatives in this election region and moved into the newly created Scottish Parliament. In the 2003 parliamentary elections, he was able to increase its share of the vote though, but still missed the direct mandate. His list mandate for South of Scotland, he defended, however. After the British general election, 2005, he returned his mandate and retired from the Parliament from. For Mundell moved by the next placed Derek Brownlee.

House of Commons

In the British general election of 2005, Mundell applied for the direct mandate of the newly created constituency of Dumfriesshire, Clydesdale and Tweeddale and won the direct mandate. In the shadow cabinet of David Cameron Mundell was provided from 2007 as Scotland minister. After he defended his seat at the general election in 2010, Mundell was appointed Under Secretary of State for Scotland.
