Derge Parkhang

Dege Parkhang ( Tib: sde dge par khang ) is a famous, traditional printing house in eastern Tibet, were prepared and stored in the printing blocks for block printing. The full name of the print is " Dege Parkhang Chödzö Chenmo " ( Tib: sde dge par khang chen chos mdzod mo; "Print House of Dege, great treasure of the Dharma "). Another important printing house in eastern Tibet was the printing house of the monastery Palpung.

Location and age

Dege Parkhang belongs to the monastery of Dege Gönchen Lhundrub Teng ( Tib: sde dge dgon chen grub lhun steng ) and is located as indicated in the name, Dege in today's circle of Ganzi Autonomous Prefecture. Dege Gönchen Lhundrub Teng was in the 15th century by the famous Thangtong Gyelpo ( Tib: thang stong rgyal po, 1361-1485 ) founded and served until 1909 as the seat of the kings of Dege.
