Design rule checking

The Design Rule Check (DRC, dt "Design Rule Check ") is a step in the layout verification of integrated circuits. It ensures the technological manufacturability of the designed layout.

These compliance with all prescribed by the technology constraints ( design rules ) is checked, can be formulated directly as geometric properties. This is essentially width, spacing and overlap rules. Complex, context- dependent geometric rules can also verify the DRC.
