Longing (working title: Pagliacci ) is a German film drama of 1921 for the manuscript, which was never kissed the mouth of Carl Heinz Járosy.
Action
The Russian student Ivan lives - impoverished - in Switzerland. Since he is unexpectedly invited by a distant relative, Princess Wirsky, to Russia. To finance the trip, he hired himself as a messenger for revolutionaries who want to overthrow the Grand Duke Wirsky. In Moscow he passes the message and falls in love with the daughter of a revolutionary, Marja. But Marjas Father loves the princess Wirsky and wants to betray the revolutionaries. As the princess but in love with Ivan, they can deport out of jealousy Marja to Siberia. In revenge, Ivan strangling the princess. He spends the rest of his life to pass away in longing for Marja, he has never kissed. When he receives the news of Marja's death one day, he commits suicide.
Background
The film was produced by the Mosch Mosch film Richard Berlin and the Berlin film Lipow. The costumes were designed by Charles Drecoll, the buildings of Robert Neppach. The film had a length of five acts to 1,765 meters, which corresponds to about 77 minutes. The censorship took him on 18 October 1920, a youth ban (B. 597). The German premiere was in February 1921. The film is considered lost.
