The fate ( المصير, DMG al - MASIR ) is an Egyptian- French film directed by Youssef Chahine from the year 1997.

Action

The film takes place in Arab Andalusia of the 12th century. The scholar Averroes ( Ibn Rushd or Ibn Rushd, Arabic ) is the supreme judge and counselor to the caliph al- Mansur. With his family and his students, he lives a life full of wisdom, love and tolerance. The Caliph, pressed by the growing influence of the Christian and radical Islamic sect, dissociates itself increasingly from him, and finally can burn his writings and Ibn Rushd banish. Ibn Rushd students have copied the meantime his books and saved abroad.
