Desultory
Desultory (English: haphazard / incoherent ) is a death metal band from Sweden.
Band History
1989-1996
The band was founded in 1989. In 1990 the band recorded the first two demos " From Beyond " and " Death Unfolds ", followed in 1991 "Visions". The Swedish record label "House of Kicks" published in late 1991 an EP titled "Forever Gone", which contained only pieces of the three demos and was limited to 1,000 pieces. Shortly after, the band signed a record deal with Metal Blade, and in February 1993 the debut album " Into Eternity ". In the title " depression " could be heard as a guest vocalist Matti Kärki of Dismember.
After a European tour with Fear Factory followed in the summer of 1994 the second album " Bitterness". After quite successful tour with Samael and Cannibal Corpse guitarist Stefan Pöge 1995 left the band, there was difference of opinion between him and the rest of the band on the musical development. On the subsequent tour played Håkan Morberg rhythm guitar, as a session bassist Johan Bolin was hired. The third studio album, " Swallow the Snake" recorded the band as a trio, in October 1996 it was released.
1997-2009 as " Zebulon "
The end of 1996 the band decided to turn away from the Death Metal style and renamed itself the beginning of 1997 to Zebulon. As an integral bassist Johan Bohlin was hired Håkan Morberg played from now on only guitar. By 1998 recorded demo was the independent label People Like You, a sub-label Century Media, aware of the band and took them under contract. The end of 1999 the band had their first live performance under the new name as the opening act of Entombed, early 2000 appeared the EP " Cape Canaria ". In 2001 the album " Volume One " and after overcoming many problems in the recordings was released in 2004 another album called " Troubled Ground". After that, it was pretty quiet around the band.
From 2009
In early 2009, the band called back into Desultory and signed a contract for two albums with Pulverised Records. Håkan Morberg will be the lead guitarist in the future, the role of the bass player assumes Johan Bohlin. Next to the line -up include singer and guitarist Klas Morberg and drummer Thomas Johnson.
Style
The first two albums are regarded as typical Swedish death metal albums. On the last album Desultory Death'n'Roll play in the style of Entombed at times of Hollowman.
As Zebulon, the band played no more death metal, but classic heavy metal with influences from punk rock and stoner rock.
