Detlef Hofmann

Detlef Hofmann ( born November 12, 1963 in Karlsruhe ) is a retired German canoeist.

The canoe racers of WSV Mannheim- Sandhofen was at the Olympic Games in Atlanta 1996 Olympic champion in the four-man kayak over 1000 m, and then ended his career. Until 1992, he was spokesman for the German national team athletes canoe racing. He was seven times world champion and 19 times German champion.

Before the Olympic Games in 1992 Hofmann was found guilty of doping and received a two-year competition ban.

Hofmann became active after the end of his sporting career as a trainer - first as a club coach in the Rhine brothers Karlsruhe, since 2001 he is the German Canoe Federation as national coach under contract.
