Detlev Meyer

Detlev Meyer ( born February 12, 1948 in Berlin, † 30 October 1999 ) was a German writer and poet.

Meyer studied Library and Information Sciences in Berlin and Cleveland, was a librarian in Toronto and development workers in Jamaica. He was member of PEN and received numerous literary scholarship.

Detlev Meyer was one of the few openly gay writers in Germany. His subjects were the life in and with the scene and the threat of AIDS, the disease, the consequences of which he himself succumbed in the end. But he was not the "author of the scene ," but was, furthermore, represents an audience that has been discussed in the literature departments of FAZ and DIE ZEIT and was considered a " single Dandy contemporary German literature.
