Deutschsprachige Anwendervereinigung TeX

The German-speaking TeX User Group eV ( short DANTE eV ), with 2,115 members (as of February 2010), the largest TeX Users Group worldwide.

History

Having been in the years before loosely organized meeting of German-speaking TeX Learner had taken place, DANTE eV was founded on April 14, 1989 in Heidelberg and registered under number 1659 in the Register of Heidelberg. The club was recognized by the Inland Revenue as a charity.

Statutory purpose of the association is the support and advice of TeX users throughout the German-speaking world. In addition, DANTE eV represents the interests of German TeX users at the international level over the other TeX user groups.

Activities

DANTE eV maintains with the master node dante.ctan.org one of the two server backbone of the Comprehensive TeX Archive Network ( CTAN ).

Twice a year, members meetings were held with additional program (lectures and tutorials ) at different locations in the German language, which were also able to participate non-members.

Four times a year, the magazine for members appear The TeXnische comedy.

Together with other user groups the TeX distribution TeX Live is published and distributed free to club members annually.

International counterpart is the TeX Users Group ( TUG ) was founded in 1980. In the French- speaking world has existed since 1988, the Groupe Francophone de Utilisateurs of TeX ( Gutenberg ).
