Dezső Lemhényi

Dezso Lemhényi ( born December 9, 1917 in Budapest, † December 4, 2003 ) was a Hungarian water polo player, who won an Olympic silver medal in 1952 and an Olympic gold medal in 1948.

Dezso Lemhényi took account of the Second World War until the age of 30 in 1948 in London for the first time participate in the Olympics. He appeared in 6 games with and scored three times, lost in the final against Italy, he did not play. Four years later he was employed in the Hungarian Olympic victory in 1952 in two games. When 13:4 against Mexico he threw five goals against Germany, he came at 9:1 not match any documents.

He started at Budapesti Sportegyesület and played for the club since 1943 Újpesti Tornaegylet, who renamed in 1952 in Budapesti Doja.

Dezso Lemhényi was 1953-1954 and 1958-1960 respectively as successor by Béla Rajki coach of the Hungarian water polo team. In 1954 and 1958, he led the team to the European Championship title, at the Olympic Games in 1960, the team won bronze.

In the 1960s, he moved with his wife, the gymnast Olga Tass, to France, where both worked as a coach. In the 1970s, both were committed in Canada.

1998 Dezso Lemhényi was inducted into the International Swimming Hall of Fame.
