Diamino acid

Diamino acids, more diaminocarboxylic are organic compounds and are among the amino acids. Diamino acids contain at least one carboxyl group (-COOH ) and two amino groups (-NH2).

Biochemical importance

Asparagine, glutamine, and lysine diamino proteinogenic, that is, they are next to other 17 amino acids, the molecular building blocks of the proteins. These three diamino acids are encoded by codons of the genetic material and therefore also belong to the canonical amino acids.

Ornithine as well as 2,6- diaminopimelic acid, a non- proteinogenic diamino acid.

In biochemistry diamino acids are of some interest. Diamino acids are used for synthesis of peptide nucleic acids such as the daPNA. Peptide nucleic acids such artificially produced in turn shapes with individual DNA and RNA strands, duplexes and are therefore considered not only as a DNA analogues, but are also possible reconstructions of the probably first genetic material on earth. The corresponding diamino acids such as 2,3- diaminopropanoic were detected in the Murchison meteorite as well as in artificial comet.
