Diamond Way Buddhism

The German word Diamond is a Lehnübertragung the Sanskrit term Vajrayana ( vajra means Diamond, Yana means path or vehicle). The term " Diamond " is mainly used in German-speaking countries for the Diamond Way centers founded by Ole Nydahl, whose teaching presentation is called " Diamond Way Buddhism ". The centers in Germany are regularly attended by about 20,000 people - making it the largest Diamond Way Buddhist community in Germany.

The other schools of Tibetan Buddhism, which belong to the Vajrayana, rather use the Sanskrit term " Vajrayana " or the terms " vajra vehicle ", " diamond vehicle ".

Organization of the Diamond Way centers

The Diamond Way centers are organized in Germany in the Buddhist umbrella organization Diamond (BDD ). Previously called this non-profit association Karma Kagyu umbrella organization ( KKD ).

In Austria, the Diamond Way centers in the composite "Karma Kagyu Austria ( KKÖ ) " are organized and Switzerland joined " Karma Kagyu lineage Switzerland ".

In 2007, through the purchase of an estate in Immenstadt the establishment of the so-called " Europe Center " is possible. This has an international focus and a part of the Diamond Way Buddhist Foundation.
