The Circus Princess is an operetta in three acts by Emmerich Kálmán ( 1882-1953 ). The libretto was written Julius Brammer and Alfred Grünwald. The work was premiered on 26 March 1926 at the Theater an der Wien in Vienna.

Action

The Act 1 and 2 play in St. Petersburg, act three in a hotel in Vienna.

The focus is on a " Mister X", which occurs as a masked daredevil circus rider. In reality, he is the nephew of a deceased disinherited prince. He loved the wife of the prince, without that knew him.
