Diego Cavalieri

Cavalieri (2007)

Diego Cavalieri ( born December 1, 1982 in São Paulo) is a Brazilian football goalkeeper, who currently stands at Fluminense under contract. He possesses both the Brazilian and Italian nationality.

Career

Cavalieri began his professional career in 2002, the Brazilian football club Palmeiras. He made his debut in a 4-0 away win against the Rio Claro FC in the State of São Paulo championship. For Palmeiras Cavalieri also starred in the Compeonato Brasileiro, the Brazilian national championship. Here he suffered a total of 47 goals in 33 games.

On 11 July 2008, he signed a four year contract with the English Premier League club Liverpool. His first try for his new club he had in the League Cup against Crewe Alexandra. After Cavalieri could not prevail against the first-choice goalkeeper Pepe Reina and Liverpool Brad Jones undertook a new goalkeeper, he joined in August 2010 for Italian club AC Cesena. But even here, he came only in the Coppa Italia to use one and therefore moved in 2011 to return home to Fluminense.

In Rio de Janeiro he was set directly as goalkeeper after the departure of Fernando Henrique Silva and Rafael. This position he confirmed in subsequent seasons and was thus contribute significantly to the title win in the league and in the state championship. In addition, he was even appointed to the Brazilian national team.
