Diego Luzuriaga

Diego Luzuriaga ( born 1955 in Loja ) is an Ecuadorian composer.

Luzuriaga studied at the École Normale de Musique in Paris, at the Manhattan School of Music and Columbia University in New York. Among his teachers were Gerardo Guevara, Yoshihisa Taira and Mesias Maiguashca.

Luzuriaga dealt in Ecuador with the research and recording of folk music from the Andes and Latin American music. He has received numerous Kompositionsaufträger international orchestras and ensembles, and in 1992 a Guggenheim Fellowship.

In addition to opera and orchestral works he composed works for chorus and orchestra, chamber music and songs.
