Diego Ulissi

Diego Ulissi ( born July 15, 1989 in Cecina ) is an Italian road racing cyclist.

Diego Ulissi in 2005 Italian national time trial champion in the junior class. At the European Youth Olympics he finished third in the time trial. The next year he won at the Junior Tour Tre Ciclistica Bresciana two stages and so could the Appreciation decide for themselves. He also won the one-day race Trofeo San Rocco and a stage at the Giro della Lunigiana. At the Junior World Championship at Spa- Francorchamps he won the gold medal in the road race. In 2007 he again won two stages and the overall at Tre Ciclistica Bresciana. At the Junior World Championships in Aguascalientes he could defend his world title. In the 2008 season Ulissi was successful at the Trofeo Tempestini Ledo.

In the pros, he has already earned remarkable achievements. From the type of driver he is an allrounder who can win both smaller tours and demanding one-day races. Worth mentioning is his overall victory in 2011 in the Slowenienrundfahrt and the stage win at the Giro. In 2013 he won a stage and the overall classification of the Settimana Internazionale, to a stage of the Tour of Poland, the oldest Italian one-day race Milan -Turin, after he was a year earlier finished second. He then went on to win the two -day race Italian Coppa Sabatini and the Giro dell'Emilia.
