Diether Posser

Diether Posser ( born March 9, 1922 in Essen, † 9 January 2010) was a German politician (GVP, SPD).

Life

Posser visited the Essen Burggymnasium. In his youth he was from the evangelical youth pastor Wilhelm Busch and influenced his work during the Weigle -Haus. Following military service and captivity Posser studied law and settled in 1951 as a lawyer down. In 1952 he founded with former Interior Minister Gustav Heinemann ( previously CDU ), Hans Bodensteiner (CSU ), Thea Arnold, Helene Wessel (both Centre Party ), Hermann Etzel ( Bavaria Party) and the later Federal President Johannes Rau, the total German People's Party, in which he claimed the resignation floor Steiner became General Secretary in 1953.

After the failure of 1957 he was a member of the SPD, for which he entered in 1966 in the state parliament of North Rhine -Westphalia. He was appointed there to the Minister for Federal Affairs 1968. In 1972, he joined the Justice Department before he became finance minister in 1978. He held this office until 1988 held ( inter alia Cabinet Cabinet Rau Rau II and III). He was also to 1988, Deputy Prime Minister and from 1970 to 1986 a member of the party executive of the SPD. From 12 May 1982 to 26 April 1990, he was co-chairman of the mediation committee and thus the first non- prime minister, who officiated on the Federal side as chairman. In 1990, he was replaced by John Rau.
