Dietmar Klinger

Dietmar Klinger (born 8 January 1958) is a former German football player. His son Mario is also a professional footballer.

Career

Klinger began his career at Schwarz-Weiß Essen, where he was part of the senior squad from the 1975/76 season. During the winter break of the season 1977/78 he moved to local rivals Rot-Weiss Essen, with whom he played until 1983 in the 2nd Bundesliga. From the 1983/84 season he played with Bayer 05 Uerdingen in the Bundesliga. With Bayer 05 Uerdingen he won the 1985 DFB Cup and was part of the team that managed the miracle of the Grotenburg in the European Cup. It was the Cup Winners' Cup 1985/86, as Dynamo Dresden 7:3 was defeated and Uerdingen failed to Atletico Madrid until the semi-finals; Dietmar Klinger came into this season to a total of eight European Cup bets. In the UEFA Cup 1986/87 he played four games and was eliminated in the second round against FC Barcelona. In 1991 he left Bayer 05 Uerdingen. Klinger settled reamateurisieren and still played one season long with the Wuppertal SV and Schwarz-Weiß Essen in the Oberliga Nordrhein before he finished his career in 1993.

For Bayer 05 Uerdingen Dietmar Klinger played a total of 208 league games, in addition, he came to 234 second league operations and a total of 35 DFB Cup games.

Klinger is assistant coach at Sportfreunde Niederwenigern and has been with the city administration food.
