Dig Dug II

Dig Dug II is an arcade game that was made ​​in 1985 by Namco. The sequel was not as successful as its predecessor Dig Dug.

Description

You play as an alien -like figure, which has a pump and a drill. The player moves horizontally on an island, and tried so-called " Pooka " (round orange monsters, which look like a ball ), and fire-breathing dragon ( Fygars ) dodge. In order to kill the enemies you sink either parts of the island where the enemies are, by the so-called " faults " ( engl: fault lines ) drilled with the drill or by inflating the enemies like in Dig Dug. There are many different levels and islands and the play area is viewed obliquely from the front or from above.

You lose a life if:

  • One is touched by Pooka
  • You will be burned by fire Fygars
  • One falls from the island ( on the island edge amounts )

To inflate a monster you have to - as with Dig Dug - press the fire button 4 times. Inflated monsters - if they have not inflated long enough - back to normal monsters and the player can attack again. However, when a monster falls into the water with one part of the island, so this is finally dead and can no longer attack. The same is also true for the player.

The graphics

This sequel to Dig Dug consists of 16 - color sprites and a few tunes from the original game. For some, an addictive and great gameplay.

Rarity

Of the 5359 produced video games which by the International Arcade Museum ( engl: International Arcade Museum ) were tracked, this game was ranked 83 out of 100 (best place: 1 ). The ranking was based on the purchase numbers for the respective Games.
