Diloxanidfuroat is a drug which is used for the treatment of amoebic dysentery, a disease caused by a specific microorganism diarrheal disease. The substance acts as Kontaktamöbizid in the intestinal lumen and is the drug of choice for asymptomatic infections of the intestinal lumen as well as for treatment subsequent to a treatment of invasive infections caused by amoebae.

Diloxanidfuroat was added to the list of essential drugs of the World Health Organization. The drug was discovered by The Boots Company Plc in 1956 and marketed as drugs under the name Furamid on the market. Meanwhile, Abbott Laboratories owns the trademarks.
