Dimensión Latina

La Latina is a Salsa band Dimensión from Venezuela.

Career

The group was founded on 15 March 1972 in the brewery " La distinción " in Caracas by Oscar D' Leon, César " Albondiga " Monge, José " Joseíto " Rodríguez, José Antonio Rojas, Elio Pacheco and Jesús, " Chuito " Narváez. Your first record in 1972 " El clan de Víctor y Dimensión Latina" was a recording with the group Clan de Víctor. Oscar D' Leon sang her first hit " Pensando en ti". In 1973, after the release of her album Dimensión Latina " Triunfadores " in numerous events such as the Carnaval de Maracaibo part. 1974 came the Bolero musicians Vladimir Lozano to Dimensión Latina and she had her first international successes. The album Dimensión Latina 75 had numerous hit like " Taboga ", " Lloraras ", " Parampampam ", " La Vela " and " Cañonazo " and made it world in the salsa scene known. In New York City was at this time a real salsa boom. Even with titles like " Dolor cobarde ", " El Frutero " and " Dormir contigo " the success of Latina Dimensión was continued. In 1977 she produced " La Dimensión Latina en Nueva York," this year Oscar D' León left the band and started his solo career. Following the departure of D' León of the Puerto Rican singer Andy Montañez, former lead singer of El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico joined the band and founded a new era. In November 1977 Dimensión Latina playing on the Salsa International Festival at Madison Square Garden in New York. With Andy Montañez they took a total of eight records with hits like " El Eco De Un Tambo ", " Linda Minerva ", " Ave Maria Lola ", " Cantante Errante " and " Quisiera Saber " Montañez as the group left again in 1980. In the 1990s, the combo had varying success and a different cast. On 24 July 2003 the group was honored as Patrimonio Histórico Cultural de Caracas because of their large exposures in the Caribbean music of the Municipality of Caracas.
