Ding Song

Ding Song (Chinese丁松, Pinyin Ding Song, born September 5, 1971) is a Chinese table tennis player. In the 1990s he was times world champion in the team competition two.

Career

Ding Song was regarded as the world's best defender. He participated in the World Championships in 1995 and 1997. He won both times with the Chinese men's team gold. In 1995, he took another bronze in the individual. To the quarter- finals he reached 1997 in singles and mixed with Wang Hui.

Leg of the ITTF Pro Tour tournaments he won the individual 1996 Kitaku - Shu (Japan) and 1997 in Melbourne ( Australia).

In 1997, he ended his career as a competitive athlete. A year later he joined the club Shanghai team to Germany and played in the 1998/99 season at the Bundesliga club TTF Bad Honnef. With the men's team, he came in 2003 to the final of the ETTU Cup. He then joined the TTC Frickenhausen. Again he reached in 2003 with the team in the final ETTU Cup.

In 2003 he returned to China and joined here in the Super League ( Table Tennis Super League). Since 2008 he works as a trainer at universities in Shanghai. He now lives in Shanghai.
