Dinonylnaphthylsulfonsäure is a mixture of several synthetic and isomeric chemical compounds. All belong to the sulfonic acids and aromatic polycyclic hydrocarbons ( PAHs). The mixture is an antistatic agent and is used as an additive in lubricants and fuel ( Jet A -1).
Representation
Dinonylnaphthylsulfonsäure is made from naphthalene which is first alkylated with nonene to dinonylnaphthalene and then sulfonated following the final product.
Use
Dinonylnaphthylsulfonsäure is - just like the two alkaline earth metal barium and Calciumdinonylnaphthylsulfonat - versatile as an additive in lubricants ( grease, oil or coolants ), industrial coatings and rust inhibitors used. Typically, amounts of 0.5 to 3 weight percent may be added. In aviation kerosene Jet A -1 is included as conductivity ( antistatic ) in amounts of 1-3 mg / l.
