Diósd

Diósd [ di.oʒd ] or German Orasch is a small town on the southwestern outskirts of the Hungarian capital Budapest. The community itself is between Törökbálint ( Großturwall ) and Érd ( Hansel Beck).

History

The German name of the village is not only due to the centuries of shared history of Austria and Hungary, but also due to that the village is a Swabian settlement. Orasch is first mentioned in the time of King Sigismund, including the castle, the writing appeared already in 1417.

Attractions

Diósd has many beautiful old farmhouses from the time of the Danube Swabians and a museum of radio and television.

Traffic

Diósd is connected to the capital by railway and the interurban bus system. The M7 motorway and the highway M0 are very close, and the Highway 7 runs through the city.
