Distemper (band)

Distemper is a Russian ska punk band from Moscow.

Band History

Distemper was founded on September 4, 1989 in Moscow from Nossaty, Bai and Kisel, who played previously together in the band Krisisnoje Otdelenie ( crisis area ), and initially joined on local festivals and concerts. Stylistically, the music moved between thrash metal and punk. Two years after the establishment of the young band recorded their first album, but had little success. 1992 Distemper was reinforced by Dazent, who took over the role of singer and since then writes most of the lyrics. With new members, the group took the second album, with which she became known outside the capital, so by appearing in Saint Petersburg, Volgograd, Kirov and other cities of Russia.

In 1995, the band turned to the ska-punk. For this reason, the saxophonist Ilyich was taken. Three highly successful albums were recorded until 1998, including Face Control (1997). Although the band at this time was already very well known, the ska-punk ensemble was completed by trombone and trumpet in 1998.

In 2002 Distemper first went on tour abroad. Since then the band a guest almost every summer in Europe and has now become the most successful Russian band abroad in Europe. Distemper occurred among other major festivals such as 15 Potsdamer Ska Festival and Attack Force.

Distemper is working a lot with other bands. So an album together with the U.S. band The know-how was incorporated in 2003. In 2006, the album Kogda Rebjata objediniajutsia, taken together with the Russian punk rock band Tarakany appeared.

The lyrics of Distemper are usually very optimistic, positive and live joyfully. The range of issues with which to deal, the lyrics of the band is great, and ranges from leisure activities including music and chill, about friendship and love through to socially critical lyrics about violence, war and racism.

Special performance
