Districts of Israel

Israel is one of six districts, Hebrew מחוזות, mechozot ( Sg machoz ) and 15 sub-districts, נפות, nafot ( Sg nafa ), which are divided into a total of fifty natural regions.

Jerusalem District

  • Name of the district: Jerusalem (Hebrew מחוז ירושלים Mechoz Yerushalayim ).

  • Subdistricts: no further sub- districts

North District

  • Name of the District: North District (Hebrew מחוז הצפון Mechoz haTzafon ).
  • District Capital: Nazareth
  • Subdistricts: Tzefat or Safed
  • Kinneret
  • Jizre'el
  • Akko
  • Golan; this Sub-district was annexed by Israel, but is not recognized by the UN as Israeli territory.

Haifa District

Central District

Tel Aviv District

Southern District

Judea and Samaria

Judea and Samaria ( commonly referred to as the West Bank) is not Israeli territory and is under military administration.
