Dittography
Dittography (from Greek Dittos ' twice, doubled ' and gráphein 'to write' ) is a term used in linguistics and refers to the erroneous double letters of an element. In the late 19th century, the word came into the European languages .
Example
You go in to the garden.
Especially frequent cases of dittography when already doubling is already required, such as in: together or sheepskin.
Not meant are those cases in which homonyms occur in a sequence, such as in: the women who bake the cake. In this case it is the first time that the relative order, and the other, the item in the plural.
