The Dixie State College ( also DSC, Dixie Dixie State College or called ) is a state university in St. George in the southwest of the U.S. state of Utah. More than 6,000 students are enrolled here.

History

The DSC was founded in 1911 as St. George Stake Academy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints ( Mormons). 1916 Dixie College in Normal College and 1923 Junior Dixie College was renamed. 1933, the college was nationalized. In 1970 another name change to Dixie College. The present name and university status was awarded the university in 2000.

Sports

The sports teams are called the DSC Red Storm. The university is a provisional member of the Pacific West Conference.
