Djamel Menad

Djamel Menad ( born July 22, 1960 in El Bayadh ) is a former Algerian footballer and current football coach. Currently he trains no association.

Career

Association

Djamel Menad began his career in 1975 in the youth of El Biar JS. In 1976 he moved to CR Belouizdad, where for seven years he played until 1981. In 1978 he won the Algerian Cup with his team. In 1981 he moved to JS Kabylie. There he had by far the most success of his career. He was in the period between 1982 and 1986 a total of four Algerian champions and 1986, Algerian Cup winner. Due to its good performance even teams from Europe were aware of him. Therefore, he was obliged in 1987 with French side Olympique Nîmes. There he showed his goalscoring to the test and scored in 72 games overall thirty goals. In 1990 he moved to Portugal to FC Famalicão. He graduated between 1990 and 1992 a total of 57 matches and scored fifteen goals. Then he moved on to league rivals Belenenses Lisbon. In one year he shot there, however, only three goals in 22 games. In 1994 it went back to Algeria to JS Kabylie. Also during his second stay there, he was successful. It was founded in 1995 Algerian champion and won in the same year the African Cup Winners' Cup. In 1996 he moved to USM Algiers, where he was a year later ended his career.

National

1982 began his career in the Algerian national football team. He was part of the squad for the FIFA World Cup 1986 in Mexico, where he was employed in the group stage in the 0-1 defeat against Brazil. In the African Football Cup 1990 in his own country he was top scorer with four goals and won with his team the tournament. During his national team career, he completed 81 games and scored 25 goals.

In 1986 he was the choice to African Footballer of the Year third behind Muhammad Timoumi and Rabah Madjer.

Coach

2005 Menad started as a coach at USM Algiers, where he spent two years of his coaching career. Previously, he was from June 1995 already playing assistant coach at JS Kabylie. From 2007 to 2011 he was manager of JSM Bejaïa.

He then took over as coach at his old club CR Belouizdad, but admitted in May 2012 after losing the Cup final the trainer chair. From September 2012 to May 2013 he coached the team from MC Alger.
