Djivan Gasparyan

Dschiwan Gasparjan (Armenian Ջիվան Գասպարյան, in scientific transliteration Jivan Gasparyan, Djivan Gasparian in other transcriptions; born October 12, 1928 Solag, Armenia ) is an Armenian -instrumentalist and composer.

Gasparjan, who hails from a village near Yerevan is mainly known as a duduk player. He taught as a professor at the Conservatory of Yerevan. His style ranges from traditional ( Armenian ) folk music and pop music.

International reputation and he reached for his collaboration with Peter Gabriel on the soundtrack of the film The Last Temptation of Christ. Later Gasparjan involved in the soundtrack of the film Gladiator. He has also collaborated with musicians such as Lionel Richie, Hans Zimmer, Brian May, Andreas Vollenweider, Majid Bekkas and Michael Brook.

In 2010 he played at the Euro Vision Song Contest in Oslo Duduk - as part of the Armenian contribution.
