Docheiariou monastery

The monastery Dochiariou (Greek Ι. Μ. Δοχειαρίου, accounting officer ) is a Greek Orthodox monastery on Mount Athos, Greece. In the monastery of Athos hierarchy it is the tenth. It was founded before 1013 by Dochiarius and is located at the present site since about 1100.

The monastery is located on the west coast of the Athos and is the first monastery, which is coming to see Ouranoupolis. The monastery, built on a hillside nooks and crannies around the Catholicon ( main church), dates from the 16th century and is clearly dominated by the library tower in the back. The monastic community is koinobitisch since 1980. Currently home to around 20 monks in the monastery, and two monks outside in a Kellion. The Monastery holiday is November 8 ( Archangel Michael ).
