Docomomo International

Docomomo is an international association. The name stands for International Working Party for Documentation and Conservation of Buildings, Sites and Neighbourhoods of the Modern Movement. Translated, this means International Association for the documentation and preservation of buildings and urban ensembles in the style of modernity. The aim is to promote scientific research and documentation, as well as informing the public about the cultural significance of modern architecture.

Docomomo was founded in 1988 in Eindhoven by the Dutch architects Hubert -Jan Henket and Wessel de Jonge. In many states, there are now national sections (national working parties ). The German section docomomo.de is an independent association since 2006. The Austrian Working Group docomomo.at was constituted in 2000 and in 2001 was officially recognized by DOCOMOMO International.
