Doctor Know-all

Doctor Know-all is a farce (ATU 1641). He stands in the Children's and Household Tales of the Brothers Grimm in place 98 ( KHM 98). There, the title of Doctor All-Knowing wrote.

Content

A poor farmer goes with two oxen a load of wood to town and sold it for two dollars to a doctor. When he sees how good the doctor lives, he decides to become one too. He buys an ABC book and called himself Doctor Know. Now when a rich man a large sum of money is stolen, he is called to elucidate the theft. Shortly thereafter, he sitting with his wife at the robbed man to eat. As a minister of the first course served, says Doctor Know to his wife: "This is the first ", and refers to the first gear. The servant, however, who was involved in the theft, thinks the doctor was suggesting that he was of the first thief. The same drama is repeated twice more, after which the doctor confess all three servants their misdeed. They show him the money hiding, with the request not to betray them. The doctor is now the rich man his money back, but did not say who stole it. In this way he gets from both sides of a generous reward and is a famous man.

Add another one to the evening newspaper 1819 No. 171 is a hungry Köhler can dine with the king three days to find out thieves, if not, he shall die.
