Dogic

The Dogic is a mechanical, three-dimensional puzzle and is similar to the Rubik's Cube or the Megaminx.

History

The Dogic filed by Zoltan and Robert Vecsei in Hungary on 20 October 1993 for a patent. The patent ( HU214709 ) was issued on 28 July 1998. Originally Dogic of VECSO was sold in two versions, under the name " Dogic " with 12 colors and " Dogic 2" with 20 colors.

In 2004 Uwe Meffert has acquired the rights to produce the Dogic. He produced the two known color variations ( Dogic I and VI) with additional 10 ( Dogic II), five ( Dogic III) and two ( Dogic IV V ) colors.

Meanwhile, the Dogic is no longer produced and is to only purchase second hand. This led to a high demand and high prices at auctions up to several hundred euros.

Operation

The Dogic is an icosahedron with twenty faces in the form of regular triangles. Each of the side faces is sub-divided into four smaller triangles, the central triangle is subdivided into three triangles. This central triangle is the mechanical equivalent of a corner of a Megaminx.

The mechanical puzzle can be manipulated in two ways. On the one hand, the tips of the Dogic - are rotated consisting of five small triangles - as five complete pages simultaneously.

The 12-color variant is the most difficult to solve.
