Dolbogene

Dolbogene is a genus of butterflies of the family of moth ( Sphingidae ). Due to the genital structure and the wing pattern is believed that the genus is closely related to the genus Dolba.

Features

The relatively small moths have a diffuse brown, gray and white wing pattern. On the fore wings a dark Diskalfleck is with white core, in Analwinkel there is another smaller dark spot. The hind wings are predominantly gray and wearing a pale, whitish post- medial band and a dark eye spot in Analwinkel. The undersides of both pairs of wings are light gray, with well-defined dark lines Medial Post. On either side of the abdomen extending back dark longitudinal lines from the thorax to the abdomen tip. Dolbogene igualana differs from the very similar, slightly smaller second species of the genus by slightly browner and more patterned forewings. D. igualana missing the two spots on the Analwinkeln the wings, also the post- medial line on the underside of the two pairs of wings are in this type is not formed.

Occurrence and life

Only a few specimens of the species have so far been caught, so nothing is known about their way of life. Occurrences are detected from the southwestern United States and Mexico.

System

Worldwide, two species of the genus are known, of which, however Dolbogene igualana ( Schaus, 1932) is attributed by some authors to the genus Ceratomia.
