Dolbogene hartwegii

Dolbogene hartwegii is a butterfly (moth ) from the family of moth ( Sphingidae ).

Features

The relatively small moths have a forewing length of 22-26 millimeters. They have a diffuse brown, gray and white wing pattern. On the fore wings a dark Diskalfleck is with white core, in Analwinkel there is another smaller dark spot. The hind wings are predominantly gray and wearing a pale, whitish post- medial band and a dark eye spot in Analwinkel. The undersides of both pairs of wings are light gray, with well-defined dark lines Medial Post. On the abdomen extend on both sides of the back dark longitudinal lines from the thorax to the abdomen tip. The thorax is considerably darker than the abdomen. From the very similar, slightly larger Dolbogene igualana the type differs in that it has a little more brown and patterned forewings. Occurrence and life

Only a few specimens of the species have so far been caught, so nothing is known about their way of life. It is believed that the animals are crepuscular and are attracted by artificial light. Occurrences are detected from the southern Arizona and Mexico.
