Dolmen of Cunha Baixa

The Anta da Cunha Baixa (also Casa da Orca de (da) Cunha Baixa called ) is located about 15 kilometers southeast of Viseu and about a mile west of the circle Mangualde own small eponymous resort, on the west bank of the small river Ribeiro do Castello, Portugal. Casa da Orca is called House of the Orca. Orca is a more frequently used for Portuguese megalithic folk name, which refers to a mythical figure.

The 1987 restored Anta is known of research since the late 19th century. Cunha Baixa is a good example of a so-called Pfeileranta. The chamber is 3.0 m wide, 3.2 m long and high as well. The over other plants greater width is achieved by two pillars that stand on either side forehead stone, forming with it the wider rear wall.

The capstone of the chamber rests on three of the nine stones wall of the chamber. ( Three-point support ). Access to paved chamber is marked by a small menhir. From the top stones of about 7.2 m long corridor, which consists of 16 Jochen, early 20th century was already only one plate in situ.

The finds consisted of microliths, zerscherbter ceramics, retouched blades, stone axes and a so-called grooved mallets.
