Dolní Žandov

Dolni Žandov ( German Untersandau, formerly Sandau, Sanda, Sandawa, Zandow, Zanda and Zandaw ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is a dominantly agricultural village in Okres Cheb.

History

The first was settled by the Celts. By German -speaking settlers of the town was founded before the 12th century.

1197 gave Heinrich Břetislavova III. the village of the newly founded monastery Tepl. Later, the fortified church of St. Michael was built on the hill next to the village. 1347, during the wars between Charles IV and Louis of Bavaria, the village was destroyed. 1374 issued by Charles IV Boreš Ossegg permission to demolish the ruins and to found a new town. 1464 was the place the license to brew beer.

1799, Johann Geiger, the manufactory for the production of then famous paper cans and tobacco boxes " Sander ". From the mid-19th century the village formed a community in the judicial district of Bad Königswart.

On April 1, 1942, the city sub Sandau with neighboring municipalities upper Sandau and Zeidlweid the new municipality was merged Sandau ( at Marienbad).

  • Church of St. Michael - The original Gothic church was rebuilt in 1682 baroque. The main altar dates from 1697 after the original from Q. Renni.
  • Monumental sculpture of St. John of Nepomuk from the year 1705.

The village Dolni Žandov consists of the districts Dolni Žandov ( Untersandau ), Horni Žandov ( Obersandau ) Podlesí (Mark Green), Salajna (Konrad green) and Úbočí ( Amonsgrün ) .. basic settlement units are Brtná ( Zeidlweid ), Dolni Žandov, Dolni Žandov - u nádrazí, Horni Žandov, Podlesí, Salajna and Úbočí.

The municipality is divided into the Katastralbezirke Brtná u Dolního Žandova, Dolni Žandov, Horni Žandov, Podlesí u Dolního Žandova, Salajna and Úbočí u Dolního Žandova.
