Domenico Morone

Domenico Morone (* around 1442 in Verona, † around 1517 ) was an Italian painter.

Life

Morone initiated a school of painters, whose style was influenced by Andrea Mantegna. His earliest fresco in Verona was born 1471. He painted the battle painting " The Expulsion of the Buonacolsi " for Gianfrancesco II Gonzaga in the Ducal Palace ( 1494). His later works he created together with his son and pupil Francesco Morone (around 1471-1529 ), who continued to work in the classically -influenced style. Another well-known student was Girolamo dai Libri.
