Dominik Meichtry
Dominik Meichtry ( born November 18, 1984 in St. Gallen ) is a Swiss swimmer. His specialist discipline is the 200 - meter freestyle swimming.
In the European Swimming Championships in 2006 Meichtry reached the 14th place in the 100 meters, 11 square meters and over 200 the 10th place with the relay. In the swimming world championships 2007 he finished 13th in the 100 meters and 200 meters respectively over 11 and with the relay.
Meichtry took part in the Olympic Games in Beijing, where he scored the fastest time of all participants in the supply of his special discipline. He improved the national record by 1.38 seconds, and was even faster than the U.S. superstar Michael Phelps. Finally, he finished 6th place in this category.
Dominik Meichtry made it as the start of the swimmer 's 4x100m freestyle relay on August 10, 2008 in Beijing in 48.96 the first Swiss to less than 49 seconds.
Since 2005, studied and trained Meichtry at the University of California, Berkeley, California. He is in a relationship with the American swimmer Jessica Hardy.
