Domont

Domont is a commune with 14,996 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Val- d'Oise and is located on the northern outskirts of Paris. Domont belongs to Arrondissement Sarcelles and is the main town ( chef-lieu ) of the eponymous canton Domont.

Geography

Domont located 21 km north of Paris.

The neighboring communities of Domont are Moisselles in the north, Ézanville in the East, Montmorency and Piscop in the south, and Montlignon Andilly the southwest, Saint- Prix in the west and Bouffémont in the northwest.

Demographics

History

As loggers and agricultural workers Domont settlement has been known since the Middle Ages. 1105/1108 is the settlement from the Lord about Domont, Rodolphe de Bel mentioned. Pope Calixtus II in 1149 saw the donation to the Benedictine Abbey of Saint- Martin-des -Champs in Paris. With the establishment of new neighborhoods, the population increased in the late 20th century considerably.
