Don Laz

Don Laz (actually: Donald Robert Laz; born May 17, 1929 in Chicago, † February 21, 1996 in Champaign, Illinois) was an American pole vaulter.

As a student of the University of Illinois, 1951, he was NCAA champion. In 1952 he shared the U.S. title with Bob Richards, 1953 George Mattos.

His greatest achievement is winning the silver medal at the 1952 Olympics in Helsinki, where he only Richards was beaten with 4.50 m, 4.55 m in the crossed last attempt.

At the Pan American Games in 1955 in Mexico City Laz won bronze.
