Don Megowan

Don Megowan ( born May 24, 1922 in Inglewood, California, † June 26, 1981 in Panorama City, California ) was an American actor.

Life

During his high school years Megowan, which had grown very large, was a good athlete. His acting career began when film Megowan 1951; initially it was used in very small roles. Guest appearances in television series followed. After he had taken part in the Disney productions Davy Crockett, King of the Wild Frontier and The Great Locomotive Chase, his roles have been greater. As before television guest appearances were numerous ( including many Western series such as Gunsmoke, a thousand miles of dust and Cheyenne ). Megowan played a handful of leading roles in B movies, some of them produced in Italy. His most famous role was probably that of Captain Huckabee in 1962 produced series The Beachcomber. Mel Brooks cast him in 1974 as a gum-chewing desperado in Blazing Saddles.

Megowan was also one of the cast of " Gillman ," the monster figure, which was first seen in The Creature from Amazon. For television, he played Frankenstein's monster.
